Imagine wild dolphins so close you could reach out and touch them. Be prepared to be wowed on this tour, as dolphins play along the bow wave and surf in the stern wake of the Adventure R.I.B. We often encounter herds of Common Dolphin numbering in the hundreds and even the thousands (mega-herds), often within a few miles offshore of San Diego.
All year long we see friendly Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops truncatus), the extremely gregarious and inquisitive Long-beaked Common Dolphins (Delphinus capensis) that often surround the boat to play, their close relatives and equally playful Short-beaked Common Dolphins (Delphinus delphis), and the always frolicking Pacific White-sided Dolphins (Lagenorhynchus obliquidens).
This year we have also seen the return of the mysterious Risso's Dolphins (Grampus griesus) that have taken up residence just offshore. These very graceful dolphins, considered to be small whales by many experts, are typically a more tropical pelagic species so it is unusual to find them at this latitude. This year we have encountered mega-herds of Risso’s dolphins numbering well over a thousand.

The Coronado Islands never fail to evoke feelings of awe and amazement in our passengers. A chain of four islands located just 15 miles South of San Diego, “Los Coronados” are protected by the Mexican Government as a nature preserve for migratory sea birds, marine mammals and the myriad of marine life found here.
Your Captain will act as guide and naturalist sharing a wealth of information about the thriving marine ecosystem teeming with life around the islands. The Adventure R.I.B.’s low profile and shallow draft allows you to get up-close and personal to the marine life as you explore the islands’ rugged coastline and secluded coves.
Some of the animals you may encounter on and around the Coronado Islands are: 5 Different Species of Dolphin which inhabit these waters, Harbor Seals, California Sea Lions (at times as many as 50,000), Northern Elephant Seals, Brown Pelicans, Oyster Catchers, Rare Birds: Storm Petrels and the Blue Footed & Brown Boobies, Gray Whales, Blue Whales, Sei Whales and Humpback Whales, Mola Mola (Sunfish) .
